Hoot and Toot are brother-and-sister shunting engines who work around the Bartlett Bay Salt Mines.
Toot, who's headstrong and bossy, and Hoot, who's softer spoken, more practical and tends to stick more to the rules, spend most of the time connected, which often leads to squabbles! In the end, however, they tend to find a way to work it out together and get through the day.
They work hard to shunt cars and haul salt from the mines...but it wouldn't be Hoot and Toot if they didn't enjoy having a bit of fun! They love getting up to adventures and exploring the mines and the lines around it. No matter how many rivalries or bouts of bickering they get into, Hoot and Toot stick together!

Hoot is color-blind with the colors green and red, which means they both look the same to him.
